A linear equation makes up a straight line
On these coordinates when graphing
First, we’ll start with the Standard Form
Ax + By = C

A, B and C are coefficients, x and y variables
Or points on the graph that are plotted
For example 3x + y = 3
Do you know how to solve it?

First, solve for y by putting 0 for x
3 x 0 is 0 so y = 3
your first intercept point is (0,3)
On to Step 2 of solving

Solve for X by putting 0 for Y
X = 1 (1,0) is your next intercept place
Then graph your two points and draw a straight line
And your line is looking great

This equation is helpful when you know the slope and y-intercept,

Where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept
X and y variables, they would become
Slope is the change in y divided by change in x
Or just remember “rise over run”

Let’s try a sample equation
Graph y = 1/2x – 2
y-intercept is – 2
slope is ½, up 1 over 2

Now that you know the slope and intercept
Draw a straight line through both the points you’ve plotted
And great now you’re finished
You’ve graphed a linear equation
